Founder Alex Hagen on Etheric's G3 Metropolitan Area Network:

"We decided to take matters into our own hands, and we have built a box and a network that we predict will survive any cataclysm, hurricane, war, fire, grid failure, interference, better than any of our competitors. And the benefit of all that work invested in ruggedization and fault tolerance turned out to be unbelievable: high speeds and low latencies, rock-solid stability, and the system cost is still generally between $500 and $1000 in up-front equipment and installation for business and residences."

DSLREPORTS:

I'm actually talking to them now to try and get service. It all depends on where you are located and if you can see the radio antennas on SC mountains.

From what I hear the speeds are incredible (6-8Mbs) from a co-worker of mine that has their service. The monthly fee is between 59 and 149 or more for businesses. There is a high price for the initial hardware (5.8Mhz Trango) at $599 for security deposit. They don't sell the thing to you, just a deposit to keep it from walking away.

You mentioned that you "noticed that two people have a line monitor from this isp and it looks pretty stable." WHERE do I find this information on DSLR ?? Not where do I sign up for monitoring, but where do you see their results. I would like to see too.

My broadband nightmares seem to be finally over!!! No more 50 minute hold times every week trying to resolve my 54% DSL downtime. No more excuses about poor service, and terrible billing practices. No more hours long phone tree trips. Good Bye Comcast, Good Riddance SBC!!! *&^(&%#@ you both!

Hello etheric.net!! I purchased my own equipment, and for the low, low price of $199/month. I've now got a rock solid, super reliable 8Mbit/sec fully symmetric P-P microwave link. Sweetest thing I could ever imagine. Get this: 815KBytes/sec downloads!!! Yeah, you read it right, thats like 5x T1 UP and DOWN. I downloaded the whole directX redist package in 40 seconds! GAWD I'm spoiled!!!!!!

"Rock solid for me! Very impressed!"

"I did it too, and here are my results, they speak for themselves. These numbers will be VERY different during busy times, though.

"So consider this only one data point. Did I mention that it is a very nice data point though? Now if only all my destinations were on black mountain....

"I love you guys!! Thanks!!!"
